NEW DANCE ORDER

New Dance Order is the new Dance Music area in the festival

Rock in Rio has always been ahead of its time, providing its audience with memorable experiences. At the first edition, in 1985, the festival was a pioneer in getting Brazil into the international concerts’ map. That same year, for the first time in history, the public received direct lighting, revealing a great achievement: a whole audience brought together by music to build a better world. For its 2019 edition, Rock in Rio takes another step ahead - towards Dance Music, which receives an area completely different from anything that has ever been created for Rock in Rio.  New Dance Order is a great attraction for the whole audience, which will be able to see up close performances from well-known names in electronic music, such as Alesso, Tropkillaz, Vintage Culture, Infected Mushroom, Nervo, The Martinez Brothers, Claptone, Robin Schulz, and others.  A concept that goes well beyond anything the former Electronic stage offered visitors. Fully technological.

During this edition, the dance floor will open sooner, at 4 PM, and will go on until 4 AM. This means the programming for this space has been extended by six hours.  The new stage has been completely recreated and is full of technology, with a 65-meter long, 24-meter tall structure, with 560 square meters of LED screens, as well as fireworks and state-of-the art lasers.

New Dance Order brings a new idea of connecting human beings to music through the feelings experienced in its space. With a completely futurist narrative, the keyword here is “dance”. There will be many different beats -  from house, techno, trance, bass, trap, and EDM to other electronic beats - all prepared to embrace the audience with a unique vibe.

The greatest innovation in this space, besides the shocking scenography and the new artistic curatorship, is that the content of New Dance Order tells a fictional story presented in chapters. Episode 01 is the 2019 edition itself, and during each future edition of the festival, a new episode will come out. They mix reality, fantasy, and possible futures: the story is set in 2085, 100 years after Rock in Rio was born. New Dance Order’s space will raise possible issues and challenges from future times, an age in which artificial intelligence and algorithms will affect the way we live and our relationships with other humans.  A Live Series will start even before the festival at Rock in Rio’s social media and communication channels and air in real time in the giant LED screen, together with live performances that will reveal the first chapter in the NDO series.

“New Dance Order will bring awareness to issues for the future of our planet and to building a better world using the direct connection electronic music has always had with technology and development. There was a boom in Dance Music at the beginning of the century, with the arrival of the internet and new shared technologies for musical production. It was adopted by Millennials, a generation that said, ‘a music full of technology was born, inclusive and digital, and it will be the music of the future’. And they were right. Electronic music is the style that currently best represents a global culture, its codes, behaviors, and diversity”, says Claudio da Rocha Miranda Filho, artistic director of New Dance Order.
