Rota 85 is an area dedicated to the year when Rock in Rio came to life and put Brazil on the map in terms of international performances. With a décor inspired by the iconic Route 66, which crosses 18 US states, this new area has been decorated with vintage items, with many entertainment areas, such as tire repair shop, a bar featuring memorabilia from the past 34 years since the festival’s first edition, a gas station and many other attractions. The traditional Rock in Rio chapel will be located in this area, alluding to the famous Las Vegas wedding ceremonies, a city where Rock in Rio has been held previously.
“We’ll blow people’s minds once again. We have a history spanning 34 years, and the ones that help us build this brand on a daily basis, both in Brazil and abroad, are our audiences, who are thrilled with every new update, area and artist announced. We want our celebration to be impressive and in style, and that’s why we bring new contents at each new edition. Brace yourselves. If we were a large event before, we’ll be even bigger now”, assures Roberto Medina, president of Rock in Rio.
The Highway stage, inside the Route 85 area, brings to the City of Rock the atmosphere of the open road in the United States, featuring bands such as Cash Crash, Os Caras & Carol and JP Bonfá. These acts bring classical rock music and country blues to this new stage.
