Tenacious D will be on Mundo Stage in the City of Rock on September 28. Jack Black and Kyle Gass are versatile musicians who have careers both in music and the silver screen. The Los Angeles duo was formed in 1994 and did a series for HBO in 1999. Two years later, it released its debut album, "Tenacious D", which was certified platinum.
Tenacious D became famous when it starred in its own TV series in the 1990's. In 2001 the band released its first album with the single "Tribute", which made the American charts. After winning over their audience, Jack Black and Kyle Gass played themselves in a movie to tell the story of their musical career. Produced by Ben Stiller, "Tenacious D: The Pick of Destiny" was released in 2006. The movie soundtrack made the first positions of the "Billboard 200" at the time. The act got a Grammy award for Best Metal performance in 2015 and was nominated for Best Comedy Album in 2012. Their performances have a theatrical side, discussing topics ranging from the duo's teenage years to politics. Among their musical influences are The Who and Led Zeppelin.
